Rosalind Christian

I am an intern therapist currently completing the final section of my Master of Counseling Psychology degree. I believe that all people have an innate tendency towards connection and growth. Using a compassionate and honest approach, I work with you to access your internal strengths, and to better understand your motivations, behaviours, emotions, and thoughts. We will collaborate to identify goals and move towards more joy, beauty, connection, love, and fulfillment. We can also uncover natural resilience to move through the difficult parts of life.

I have experience with a variety of issues, including but not limited to, depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, and relationship distress. I believe therapy should be specific to your needs. My approach is integrative, pulling from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Attachment-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Mindfulness-Based Therapies, and Somatic Experiencing (SE). Together, we will decide what feels like the best fit for you.

I am a settler who grew up on Treaty 6 territory, homeland of First Nations and Metis people. I am so grateful for this land. My background in anthropology informs my view that our social and cultural identities are fundamental to who we are. Sometimes we need help to reflect on the ways that systems and society have impacted our sense of who we are and who we should be. I provide culturally sensitive, anti-oppressive care.

Anna Rissanen

One of the greatest assets she brings to us is the ability to enrich understanding of the neurological foundations of mental distress.

Anna offers therapy for individuals, families and couples in different life stages and challenges using cognitive behavioral therapy, and Gottman's couples therapy. Anna's approach to providing therapy is client-centered, anti-oppressive, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed. Anna enjoys working with communities where she constantly models the attributes of a leading learner. Her experiences have taught her the importance of learning and leading through community—meaning that what we can do together is more important than individual qualities taken in isolation.

Jason (Jung Pyo) Lee

Jason is an intern psychologist working towards his Master of Counseling degree from City University of Seattle in Edmonton, AB. He has first taken interest in psychology as he noticed the impact of immigration adversities within his family and peers. The stigma against mental health was deeply rooted within his culture and he wanted to positively influence the cultural restrictions of open discussions. He felt that mental health should be openly conversed, validated and comforted without the worry over what others think.

He now practices with the Rogerian mindset of person-centered care with an integration of cognitive behavioral therapy. He understands and respects the uniqueness of each individual and works to support from where the client stands. Like Vygotsky’s zone of proximal development, Jason understands that improvements come from small, constructive steps.

Away from psychology and counselling, Jason is a huge foodie who looks for new cafes and restaurants any chance he gets. If anyone needs new recommendations, he is the one to reach out to. When he is not eating, he is playing basketball, soccer, and rugby.

Jason is trained to work with:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Emotion dysregulation
  • Trauma
  • Adverse life events
  • Life transition (immigration, career transition, etc)
  • Grief and loss

Lori Thompson, MSW

Registered Social Worker

I am a social worker and have been working in the mental health field for more than 15 years. I started my social work career working with families experiencing homelessness and addiction. This work sparked an interest in the connection between traumatic events in early life and mental health problems in adulthood.

Whether you are having trouble in your relationship, struggling with anxiety, grief, or depression, I am hear to listen, provide a safe non-judgemental space and support you in making changes. I work with adults, couples, teens and families. I have a particular interest in working with complicated grief and with families struggling to parent children with challenging behaviour.

I believe that change takes place when people connect with their emotional experience. I focus on models of therapy that will help you better understand and regulate your emotions, reshape your interpersonal relationships and create meaningful connection in your life. I work to help you change the way you relate to unwanted thoughts and distressing feelings. It’s important for me to help you shift your focus away from “what’s wrong with me” and toward “what’s happened to me and how can I understand the impact”.

I completed my Masters degree in Social Work from Howard University in 2000. I have been licensed with the Alberta College of Social Workers since 2011. I’ve worked in non-profit, hospital based, intensive day hospital and community based public mental health and addictions programs. As well, I’ve held both healthcare manger and clinical supervisor roles in public mental health programs. I am working toward certification in Emotion Focused therapy.

When I am not working you will find me hanging out with my dog, creating art or walking in the woods.
