DBT Skills Group therapy

16-Week DBT Skills Group Therapy

Tuesdays October 25, 2022 – February 14, 2023 –  4-6PM MST

Led by Kristi Moore, RSW, BSW, MSW & Paige Dean, R(Prov)RPsych.

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is a process that teaches coping and resiliency skills through modules that include mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Using what we know about the biology of the brain and a person’s environmental vulnerabilities, we can learn to identify triggers, body responses and urges to engage in “problem” behaviors, and in turn, learn to implement skills to cope more effectively. DBT Skills teach us to shift our thinking and develop and practice skills that are healthier and more adaptive.

The course includes sixteen live and interactive online sessions, 120-minutes in length, an online manual and a group kit that will include materials that will be used throughout the duration of the group. This group is capped at ten participants and will be presented on Google Meets. It will be run in a group therapy format, meaning there will be an expectation that you will interact with the facilitators as well as other participants. We do request that you have access to a secure and reliable internet connection and are willing to have your camera on for the duration of live sessions. Interested individuals will be required to complete a pre-screening questionnaire to determine appropriateness and readiness for group prior to registration.

Registration price is $600 with an additional charge of $40 for each session after the initial deposit to be paid by credit card on file bringing the final total to $1200.

Receipts are issued under ‘psychological services’ and include the registration numbers of the group facilitators. Many extended health care plans will cover psychological services, but please check with your insurer prior to registering, as we cannot offer refunds due to insurance rejecting claims. Please note, not all insurance plans will cover Registered Social Workers or Master of Arts in Counselling.
